Barton College is accepting applications for Athletic Groundskeeper/Volunteer Baseball Coach, a part-time position with an immediate start date. Barton College Athletics is a member of the Conference Carolinas and competes at the NCAA Division II level.

Duties

The Athletics Groundskeeper/Volunteer Baseball coach is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the athletic fields and assisting in overseeing athletic field maintenance and student-workers. The candidate may assist with baseball practice and games on a volunteer basis and reports to the Head Baseball Coach/Supervisor of Outdoor Athletic Complex.

The primary duty is to maintain the athletic fields and oversee student workers on the fields. These duties include but are not limited to mowing, weed eating, trimming, and garbage disposal at the athletic fields; preparing fields for practice and competition; and the care and maintenance of field machinery and athletic field maintenance buildings.

Secondary duties may include assisting the head baseball coach in instruction of baseball skills to develop student-athletes’ skills and teamwork, as well as other duties as requested by the head baseball coach.

Some travel is required.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements include: an associate’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. A valid driver’s license is required.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation is a work opportunity not to exceed 29 hours per week at a negotiated rate based on experience and qualifications, and college-owned housing at the athletic complex. Evaluation of applications will begin immediately and continue until position is filled.
