The Admission Process
1. Apply Online
Complete the free online application and submit it to the Office of Admissions. Once we have received your application, your admissions counselor should be in touch within 24 hours to guide you through the rest of the admission process.
2. Request Transcripts and Scores
Next, we need to receive your transcripts and test scores. If you are entering Barton as a freshman, ask your high school records office to mail us your official transcript. If you’re a home-schooled student, please submit an official transcript demonstrating that you have completed the equivalency of a college preparatory high school curriculum. Transcripts from a cooperating school district or certified testing agency are preferred. If you are transferring to Barton from another institution, please submit official transcripts from each college or university you attended.
Test Optional
We have moved to a test-optional format. If you choose this option, we will make an admission decision without SAT or ACT scores. Your admissions counselor will discuss with you if other documents are required.
If you wish to submit your SAT or ACT scores, please send them to the Office of Admissions from your high school or from the testing agency that administered your exam. When registering for the SAT or the ACT, be sure to use Barton’s code numbers: 5016 (SAT) and 3066 (ACT).

3. Receive Acceptance Letter
Congratulations! After all the applications and essays and transcripts, you’ve made it! Acceptance notifications typically will arrive in your mailbox about a week after we have received your application, transcripts, and scores. Around this same time, you will also be notified if you have been awarded a merit scholarship.
So, what happens now? Just a few more forms, and then Orientation!
4. Complete the FAFSA
If you haven’t already completed the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), now is the time to do so. A completed FAFSA helps Barton’s Office of Financial Aid determine who receives scholarships and institutional aid. Barton’s school code for the FAFSA is 002908.
5. Submit Tuition Deposit
Now, it’s time to confirm your decision to attend Barton. It is important to remember that the $200 tuition deposit is non-refundable, so you don’t want to pay it until you are positive that you will be attending Barton College. May 1 is the National College Decision Deadline for the tuition deposit; however, Barton will continue to accept deposits after May 1. You may submit your $200 deposit online, or you may mail it to:

6. Complete Housing and Health Forms
After your advance tuition deposit is submitted, your next step is to complete your housing and health forms. You will receive information from Residence Life, as well as our Health Services office, about accessing these links. Meanwhile, please refer to the following pages for information:
7. Register for Orientation
The last step! Online registration for Orientation begins as early as March 15. Choose from the available Orientation dates, and select the time that works for you. At Orientation, you will meet your advisor and fellow students, receive your Barton ID card, and take care of any details that need to be completed before classes begin.
