Science and technology are critical to today’s economy. In North Carolina alone, over 650 biotechnology companies make up a key component of our economy. Pairing a minor in Chemistry with your major will prepare you for an increasingly technical workplace while developing the problem-solving skills valued by graduate and medical schools as well as by employers. In your chemistry courses, you will learn about chemical reactions and how to analyze and identify products. You will solve problems and think critically while learning how to use state-of-the art equipment. Course work in the Chemistry minor will prepare you for success in the workplace and on entrance exams to health-professions schools.


Students wishing to minor in Chemistry will complete General Chemistry I and II as well as courses in Analytical Chemistry and Organic Chemistry.
