Overview

Today’s economy is driven by science and technology. In North Carolina, for example, over 650 biotechnology companies make up a key component of the state’s economy. Pairing a minor in Biology with your major will allow you to explore your interest in the life sciences while preparing you for an increasingly technical workplace. The course work in the minor will enhance your academic experience and deepen the critical thinking skills so valued by employers, graduate schools, and health-professions programs.

Courses

Students wishing to minor in Biology will complete two required courses: Principles of Biology I and Principles of Biology II. In addition, students will complete 3 additional elective courses in Biology of which two must be at the 300/400 level. Potential courses could include:

  • Zoology
  • Botany
  • Structure and Function in Man
  • Cell Biology
  • Ecology
  • Animal Behavior
  • Immunology
