“Love The Symphony” 25th Anniversary Concert Scheduled For February 14

WILSON, N.C. — January 20, 2016 — Celebrate Valentine’s Day in gala fashion with the Barton College/Wilson Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, Feb. 14, at the twenty-fifth annual “Love the Symphony.” In honor of this year’s silver anniversary, the concert program will be a “Salute to the Silver Screen — Music from the Movies” and will feature the dynamic piano virtuoso Thomas Pandolfi.

The event will begin with a wine and cheese reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by the concert at 7 p.m. in Wilson Gymnasium on the Barton campus. A candlelight buffet dinner will immediately follow the program at 8 p.m. Tickets are $65 per person, and reservations may be made by calling Sheila Wilson at 252-399-6309. Please note that tables for eight are available by reservation. The reservation deadline is Friday, Feb. 5. No tickets will be mailed.

“Our Wilson audience will remember the amazing performance of the “Grieg Piano Concerto” that Mr. Pandolfi gave here just two years ago,” said music director and conductor Mark N. Peterson. “He is an astounding pianist and the complete showman. His programing selections are wonderful, and I’m certain the public will love this concert.”

The program, under the direction of Peterson, will include a Suite from “The Magnificent Seven” by Elmer Bernstein, Richard Addinsell’s passionate “Warsaw Concerto” performed by Pandolfi, the Suite from the Academy Award winning film “Casablanca” by Max Steiner, and a stunning concerto written for Pandolfi, which features theme songs from 20 James Bond movies.

As this distinguished event’s popularity continues to grow with an ever-increasing number of guest reservations each year, Wilson Gymnasium on the Barton campus provides a spacious and elegantly transformed environment to provide the perfect backdrop for sweethearts and friends to enjoy time-honored classics performed by the orchestra.

“Love the Symphony” is sponsored by BB&T WEALTH.
