Whether she is making a shot or giving a shot, she handles both with ease. Shanika Peterkin’s two passions are basketball and nursing. While Peterkin excelled on the basketball court throughout her high school career in Virginia Beach, Va., it was during her formative years, growing up in Jamaica, that she also discovered a deep interest in nursing. She often shadowed her mom, who was a nurse at the local hospital. Friday Fellowship for Human Relations, the flagship program of Wildacres Leadership Initiative (WLI), has named its 2020-2022 class. Trinette Boone-Langley, assistant professor and director of the Barton College Social Work program, was among the 24 North Carolinians named to 2020-2022 Class of Friday Fellows. The William C. Barton Announces President’s and Dean’s Lists for 2020 Spring Semester

WILSON, N.C. — June 10, 2020 — Barton College named 70 students to the President’s List and 343 students to the Dean’s List for the 2020 spring semester. President’s List students compiled a perfect 4.0 grade point average; Dean’s List students achieved a grade point average of 3.3 or better on a four-point scale.  To be considered, all students must have attempted at least 12 hours of courses with alpha (A-F) letter grades. Barton College Athletics is a member of the Conference Carolinas and competes at the NCAA Division II level. The Assistant Athletic Trainer works under the supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer and supervises the care of student-athletes competing in Barton College’s athletic programs. In direct response to recent social media postings, this information is provided to underscore and clarify institutional action. Barton College rejects any form of incivility as contrary to our mission. The College has a process to address student behavior and incivility when it violates our Code of Student Conduct/Honor Code.
