Members of the Barton College community, As a result of the approaching winter storm, Barton College has made the decision to close its offices and cancel classes for Wednesday, January 17, 2018. The College will continue to monitor the weather conditions and will keep you posted on any additional changes to the operating schedule through email, web site, social media, and the inclement weather phone message lines. You are encouraged to check one or more of these communication options for updated messages prior to traveling to campus. Please use good judgment and caution as you travel this week.

“Martin Luther King, An Interpretation,” Comes to the Kennedy Family Theatre Stage at Barton on January 16

WILSON, N.C. — January 12, 2018 — Barton College is pleased to welcome playwright Ira Knight as he brings his acclaimed one-man production, “Martin Luther King, An Interpretation,” to the Kennedy Family Theatre stage at Barton College on Tuesday, January 16, at 7 p.m. There is no charge for the performance, and the community is invited to attend. The dramatic performance is described as an original, thought-provoking one-man interpretation of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life and work. Barton’s Creative Writing Symposium to Feature John Lane and Catherine Woodard on January 16

WILSON, N.C. — December 19, 2017 — Barton College is pleased to welcome John Lane and Catherine Woodard, both writers with local eastern North Carolina ties, as the featured speakers for the upcoming Creative Writing Symposium to be held on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 7 p.m. The symposium will be held in The Sam and Marjorie Ragan Writing Center on the Barton campus. There is no charge for the event, and the community is encouraged to attend. Members of the Barton College community, The College will resume its normal operating schedule on Friday, January 5, 2018.   Please use good judgment and caution as you travel in the morning. If you are unable to travel on Friday as a result of road conditions, please be in touch directly with your supervisor. The College will continue to monitor the road conditions and will keep you posted on any changes to the operating schedule through email, web site, social media, and the inclement weather phone message lines. As a result of the winter storm last night and the accumulation of snow still on roads, Barton College has made the decision to close its offices today, Thursday, January 4, 2018. Please note that the Graduate and Professional Studies Orientation has been canceled for tonight. Direct communication to those students also will be sent through Jared Tice’s office. The Men’s Volleyball game against Grand Canyon will be played on campus as scheduled this evening, January 4, at 7 p.m. The College plans to resume its normal operating schedule on Friday, January 5, 2018.
