WILSON, N.C. — Dr. Assad Meymandi, distinguished psychiatrist, humanist, scholar, and philanthropist, will be the featured speaker at the 111th annual commencement exercises of Barton College in Wilson, N.C., scheduled for Sunday, May 12. “Hackney Library’s Academic Achievement Series” Features Barton Dr. Jane Webster on March 21

WILSON, N.C. — In conjunction with the “Hackney Library Celebrates Academic Achievement Series” at Barton College, Hackney Library will host a book signing and reading on Thursday, March 21, for “Lady Parts: Biblical Women and The Vagina Monologues” (Wipf & Stock 2012), a collection of narratives co-edited by Dr. Jane S. Webster, professor of religion at Barton College, and Dr. Kathryn D. Blanchard, associate professor of religious studies at Alma College in Michigan. Barton College and Belk Partner In Raising Awareness for Healthful Living

WILSON, N.C. — Educating customers about healthy hearts and healthful living was the focus of a Healthful Living Day held recently at Belk of Wilson. And, partnering with Belk for this wellness education event were the Barton College School of Nursing and the Barton College Association of Nursing Students (BCANS). Barton nursing students were on hand at Belk to provide free blood pressure screenings, and to share information about cardiovascular disease and stroke, as well as the risk factors of smoking, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, and high cholesterol, and their damaging effects on the heart.
