WILSON, N.C. — The ninth annual Caregiver Education Conference is scheduled for Tuesday, March 6, on the Barton College campus. The Gerontology Program of Barton College, Alzheimers North Carolina Inc., the Upper Coastal Plain Area Agency on Aging Family Caregiver Support Program, and Joseph D. Russell, M.D., have teamed up to sponsor this significant series of workshops and keynote addresses. WILSON, N.C. — Robert A. Ingram will be the featured speaker at the 110th annual commencement exercises of Barton College in Wilson, N.C., scheduled for Sunday, May 13. Ingram is a general partner in the firm Hatteras Venture Partners, a venture capital firm that invests in early stage life science companies in the southeast United States. Barton & Belk — Partnering for Heart Health on Valentine’s Day

WILSON, N.C. — Valentine’s Day proved to be the perfect occasion to focus on heart health at Belk of Wilson as Barton College’s Association of Nursing Students (BCANS) educated customers about the importance of a healthy heart. Belk is focusing on heart health throughout the month of February. Barton’s nursing students were on hand from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Tuesday to provide free blood pressure screenings and share information with Belk customers about cardiovascular disease and stroke. And, in celebration of Valentine’s Day, the nursing students made the screenings a little bit sweeter this year with a Hershey’s chocolate treat for each customer. WILSON, N.C. — Author and comedic performer Jane Borden will be on the Barton College campus for a book signing in the Willis N. Hackney Library on Thursday, Feb. 16, from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.  Sponsored and hosted by the Barton College Friends of Hackney Library, the book-signing event will include light refreshments and an opportunity to visit with the author. WILSON, N.C. — Please join the Friends of Visual Arts at Barton College for the upcoming Winter Lecture featuring Ben Owen III.  His lecture is titled “An Owen Tradition and Transition in Clay,” and the event will be held in the Barton Art Galleries in Case Art Building at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23. WILSON, N.C. — Barton College will welcome poet David Rigsbee for the upcoming Victor R. Small Writers Series this spring semester. The program is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 7:30 p.m., and will be held in The Sam and Marjorie Ragan Writing Center on campus. This event is open to the public at no charge, and the community is invited to attend. Rigsbee is the author of 18 books and chapbooks, including seven previous full-length collections of poems.
