Career Exploration: Whether you're undecided about your major or know exactly what you want to do, we will help you explore possible career paths.
Discover: This Internet database provides extensive information
on occupations, majors, and various aspects of career planning,
including resume writing and interests tests. Discover can be accessed
online at www.act.org/discover
Assessments: We offer career and personality tests designed clarify your career preferences and determine how your personality fits with different careers. The Strong Interest Inventory is a career-interest test that compares your interests to 116 professions. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is a personality test that measures how you relate to things, people, information, decision making, and the world around you. The Self-Directed Search is a guided brainstorming activity in which you use provided resources to find interesting occupations that match your personality.
Individual Career Counseling: The Director of Career Services will meet with you to discuss career plans and the resources available to you at Barton that can put you on the path to your ideal career.
Experiential Education: Regardless of your year in school or your experience, Career Services will assist you in getting real-world experience and applying what you're learning. Job Postings: The Career Services Resource Center holds job postings sent to us by organizations looking to hire Barton students and graduates. These postings cover everything from full-time, government, part-time, internship, and international.
Job/Internship Search Assistance: We can help you target your search for companies that are hiring in your field and develop an individualized strategy for getting exactly the kind of job that you want.
Mock Interviews: Mock interviews will help you clarify your thoughts and goals, and correct the small behaviors that might distract the interviewer. We can videotape and review your performance or simply give you an opportunity to practice without taping.
