If you've earned a degree or teaching certificate from Barton, you're eligible for free professional guidance and support from Barton's Career Services for three years following graduation. After the third year, a nominal fee may be charged for some services.
Individualized Career Counseling
We'll discuss your career interests and concerns, and help you establish career plans.
Credential File
You can set up a credential file that will include your resume, transcript, recommendations or references, and other documents that support your job search. We then keep these on file for ten years. We'll even provide five requested mailings of your file free of charge. (Subsequent mailings are $2.00 each.)
Job Referrals
With your permission, we'll send your credentials to employers who list job vacancies with us.
Full-Time, Part-Time, and Summer Job Listings
You'll find regularly updated listings of available full-time, part-time, and summer jobs.
Graduate and Professional School Information
If you're considering graduate education, you'll find a host of program catalogs as well as information on various admissions tests, such as the GRE, GMAT, MAT, LSAT, PCAT, and the MCAT.
On-Campus Interviews
As a registered alum, you'll be able to interview with the representatives from the many companies and nonprofit organizations who regularly visit the campus.
Career Resource Library We maintain an extensive resource library related to career planning and development. Along with information on specific occupations, you'll find instructional videos and publications on resume writing, interviewing, and job search strategies are also available for viewing. Employer information files are also available to help you research potential employers.
Career and Job Fairs
Representatives from a variety of companies and organizations come to campus to provide career information and to discuss job and internship opportunities. We also hold special fairs for nursing, business, education and social work/human services majors.
Career Development Workshops
We schedule career development workshops throughout the academic year that teach resume writing, interviewing, job search strategies, and applying for graduate or professional school.
Resume Critique
Get a critique of your resume from the director within 48 hours.
Mock Interviews
Strengthen your interviewing skills with a mock interview and evaluation.
Computer Lab
We provide computers for you to use for typing resumes and cover letters or to access the Internet and job listing sites.
