FYS Instructor – Kim Bellamy

I am entering my second year as Student Success Coordinator at Barton College. In this capacity, I oversee the Peer Tutoring Program, co-facilitate the Supplemental Instruction Program, conduct academic workshops, and provide academic advising and counseling to the student body.

I feel absolutely blessed to have the opportunity to work with college students. It is probably a little unfair that I have a career that I enjoy as much as I do, but helping students grow and develop personally and academically is beyond rewarding for me. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Communication with a concentration in Broadcast Journalism from East Carolina University. Following the completion of my degree, I worked as an education reporter at a small daily newspaper for two years prior to discovering my love for higher education. I then earned my master‘s degree in Education with a concentration in Student Affairs Administration from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. My journey thus far has proven that finding your way in college and beyond is never a straight and narrow path, but I hope to help you with the navigation of your own journey through the development of academic and life skills in this course.

When I am not in the Office of Student Success in Hackney Library, I enjoy spending time with my family and close friends, traveling, listening to live music, drawing, and enjoying all that life brings my way!
