Trained in the areas of sculpture, drawing, and photography, Gérard Lange’s artwork is as diverse as his background. Lange worked professionally as a photographer before attending graduate school at Tulane University in New Orleans. After receiving his M.F.A., Lange taught at Northern Michigan University before coming to Barton College. Although he is a professor of photography, Lange works in whatever media he sees fit for a particular project. Most often he alternates between traditional media and photography, sometimes coupled with digital imaging. He also delves into book arts and sculpture. Lange has had numerous exhibitions nationally and internationally, and his work has been featured in a variety of publications and journals. Additionally, Lange has delivered numerous lectures on his work and the history of photography. He is represented by galleries in New Orleans, New York, and London; and his work is held in several notable public and private collections.
