About Us

Phi Beta Lambda’s mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs.

The Gamma Gamma chapter was chartered at Barton College in 1961. For over 46 years, chapter members have served North Carolina communities. Through concentrated efforts, the chapter has annually maintained over 100 members from both the traditional and Weekend College schools. Through contacts with our alumni and community leaders, we also have strong support from our Professional Division members.  Barton College Phi Beta Lambda has also won the President's Trophy, awarded each May to the non-Greek organization which has performed the most community and campus service, for seven of the last eight years.

Gamma Gamma chapter members participate in numerous projects:  Off campus members volunteer for the March of Dimes, Wesley Shelter, American Red Cross, Chamber of Commerce (Business Expo, Sunday in the Park), American Heart Walk, Wilson Downtown Development, Make a Difference Week activities, and several tutoring programs. Students also prepare programs and speak to middle and high school students during Responsible Use of Credit Week, Teach a Child about Business Week, and on the topic of Staying in School.  On campus, members participate in the Lighting of the Luminaries, Freshman Exploration Day, Parent’s Weekend, and Homecoming.

Many Barton alumni have served as state officers:  Jenni Fox, Allen Davis, Ally Kindel (two years), Alison Foster (two years), Gina White, Jeff Daniel (three years), Laura Lancaster, Allison Winders, Ann West, Stacy Bunch, Denise Green, Shari Pulliam, Brenda Layden, and Debbie Freeman.

Teresa Parker and Ron Eggers are the advisors for the Gamma Gamma chapter of Phi Beta Lambda at Barton College.
