The
philosophy of Barton's Art Department is that student success
is a result of motivation and work ethic as well as identified
talent. Students may have one aptitude for an area of art,
but teaching all related skills necessary to be successful
in the profession is the focus of instruction. The introductory
level classes are designed to teach students the basics
in each area, and it is assumed that students have no prior
experience or practice. As students progress through their
course work the emphasis shifts to individuality of expression.
