The art
department is housed in the Case Art Building, a 19,000 square feet facility
including specialty concentrations and multi-use work display areas.
Connected to the art building is a covered 600-square-foot exterior ceramic
gas kiln work space. Also housed in the Case Art Building is the Barton
Museum. Each of the concentrations in the program has its own instructional area and technologies necessary for instruction. Art students have access to the art building at night and on weekends by individualized key card access. The graphic design computer lab holds a mixture of PCs and Macintosh computers, linked by Barton's network. Industry standard software is utilized. The photography darkroom holds 18 enlargers and teaches traditional black and white photography and color photography. The ceramic area has 10 electric potters' wheels, an electric kiln, and two gas kilns. A small woodworking shop and welding area (both gas and electric) adjoin the clay studio.
